Krasnodar, August 12 – Yug Times. All emergency services are working in intense regime in the Krasnodar region due to the extraordinarily high temperatures that have occurred in many municipalities. The situation is being constantly monitored by the local authorities. In most places the thermometers are currently showing nearly 40° C.
Last week the regional Emergency Service warned of the arrival of very strong heat — up to 39° C in most places, and 37° C at the seashore near Anapa and Tuapse.
“The heads of resort areas are going to face the most responsible period,” Governor Veniamin Kondratiev was quoted as addressing the municipal leaders. “You must keep the situation under control, we cannot afford to let any extraordinary accident happen — our first priority must be health and safety of all our holidaymakers.”
He also charged the local officials to increase the number of medical staff at the beaches and other popular destinations. Mr. Kondratiev stressed that in case of necessity all residents and guests of the region must have an opportunity to get qualified aid.
In some municipalities a special anti-fire regime has also been introduced.
