Russians Can’t Keep Up with Koreans and Uzbeks

Russians Can’t Keep Up with Koreans and Uzbeks

Krasnodar, 19 October – Yug Times. The number of discovered cases of illegal foreign workers in the Krasnodar region is growing.

According to the Police Department, in 2016 half a million foreign and stateless citizens were registered in the Krasnodar region. The law enforcement forces held nearly 7,000 activities, revealed over 40,000 offences, and imposed fines to the total amount of 134 million rubles. The bailiffs deported 993 foreign citizens in 2016, and over 2,500 in 2017 — twice as many than last year. Most of the deported were Uzbekistani citizens (836 persons), followed by Tajikistan (358), Armenia (273) and Ukraine (244).

As for the legal migrants, most frequently the employers prefer them to Russian workers in construction industry and agriculture.

“Since last year I have been hiring migrants from Uzbekistan,” says Mikhail Ivenshev, Director of KSK construction company. “I had a sad experience with local specialists: my customer wanted the works to be completed as soon as possible and paid for the speed, but our compatriots from the very beginning just stated that they would not be able to meet the deadline. Then Uzbeks did the work in four days. So [no wonder that] now they are working for me.”

“As for me, I prefer to hire North Koreans,” says Andrei Medvedev, owner of Most Agro gardening company. “I have a solid work experience with them. What is more, I counted that their working speed is much higher — where a Russian would plant one tree, a Korean would plant four. So my business becomes much more efficient.”
