Krasnodar, 19 November – Yug Times. The current foreign policy situation has become a kind of trampoline, a certain gift for the Krasnodar region. Without caring for any sanctions, our region has made for import substitution — and it has succeeded, and not only in the agricultural sector, where Kuban has for a long while been known as a serious player but in many other industries too. As for the agriculture, the region has lately been showing an unprecedented growth — and the regional authorities are doing their best to help our farmers enter the market. The amount of state grants and subsidies allocated to farmers has reached 7 billion rubles. The sums of the grants alone may reach several dozens of millions. In their turn, our farmers actively present their products at the main exhibition in the area — The Kuban Fair. This year, it summoned farmers not only from the Kuban region but from other regions of the Southern Federal District too.
The policy of openness has become a signature mark of our region in all spheres — practically every month we receive important international business missions that go well beyond getting acquainted with Kuban’s potential: they take real steps to take part in large-scale projects.
“Such meetings, exchange of experiences and search for partners are very important for us,” says Governor Veniamin Kondratiev. “We should try and find partnerships and joint business — even if it would be a state-and-private partnership. We consider all variants of cooperation, all that may contribute to the advancement of regional economy and of people’s wellbeing.”
Such policy does yield fruit. There are more than 800 companies with foreign capital from 120 countries working in the region. International companies do not fear to invest in the Russian and Kuban economy. Last year, Kuban attracted more than a billion dollars as direct foreign investments, which was the best result in the Southern Federal District. Numerous international exhibitions and forums held in our region also contributed a lot to stirring up of business links with foreign companies. They helped to expand business contacts and yielded a good result in the form of signed contracts and agreements. In this field, the Sochi Investment Forum has for 15 years been an exemplary model.
