Krasnodar, 24 November – Yug Times. Last week, the topic of development of Armavir’s industrial potential was one of the main issues in the economic agenda of the regional power. Armavir hosted an impressive group of regional officials and journalists. The guests were shown a number of best companies operating in the city — and it turned out that not everything had been ruined in the 1990s, so that now the local industry produces some really unique machines and equipment.
Kubanzheldormash (Kuban Railway Machinery Manufacturers) is one of such companies that has withstood the economic storms of the past three decades. The factory was founded in 1933, so next year it will celebrate its 85th birthday. Today it is a universally known brand in the railway market. For instance, its winches for railway carriages and engines work in 134 countries throughout the world. The staff of the factory is proud that their equipment was used to build the tunnel through the English Channel.
Tochmashpribor (Precision Machinery Factory) was another company visited by the regional pool of journalists and experts. Since it was founded in 1953, the company has manufactured a great many of different testing machines.
“I have been working here since the 1970s,” says Olga Gloviuk, Head of Quality Control Department. “I made my career here — from a controller to my current position.”
Gloviuk says that the chains used to raise the sunken nuclear submarine Kursk had been tested with the help of devices made at their factory.
The output of the Armavir Engineering Plant is also well-known throughout Russia and in the CIS countries. The plant specializes in the manufacture of railway wagons. Currently it is the only facility that produces thermos carriages that have received numerous high appraisals at specialized trade shows.
