Krasnodar, 14 March – Yug Times. On March 5, Krasnodar Mayor Yevgeni Pervyshov delivered a traditional yearly report. Below The Yug Times is publishing the most interesting and socially important moments of his speech.
Q.: What were the main achievements of the city in 2018?
A.: Krasnodar has been a regular leader of various ratings. The list of the past years includes, for instance, the fifth top place in Russia on contentment with life conditions in 2018, the second place in the rating of Russia’s most promising megalopolises, and the second place in the assessment of sustainable development of the country’s cities. However, the most important thing for me is our own rating - what have we achieved over the past two years?
First of all, with the support of the Krasnodar regional administration and the governor we have paid off our accounts - to the total amount of 3.5 billion roubles. Last year was the first year since 2013 finished with a deficit-free budget. The total sum of our own revenues reached 15.4 billion roubles - we have caught up with such other cities with over a million inhabitants as Rostov-on-Don (14.1 billion roubles) and Krasnoyarsk (14.6 billion roubles).
Q.: What is the current scale of construction of social projects in Krasnodar?
A.: Three new schools have been put into operation in the city - at Gubernsky and Moskovsky residential areas and Lenina village. Seven other schools and six child care centres are being built. Presently, the city’s ‘social conveyor belt’ is fully available for service.
Q.: Currently, there is a need of generation of new ideas for urban development. How is this process going on?
A.: Speaking of the tasks faced by the city and of the teamwork of all interested parties - the inhabitants, the business circles and the city authorities - we must say that the solutions must be better thought of, integrate and, eventually, efficient. What we really need is more ambitions and courage in the use of new ideas for urban development. We have announced a competition for the new department to be charged with the development of green areas and arboretums. We need gifted architects, creative and laborious specialists. They will have a real opportunity to change our city and make it more comfortable and nicer. I am inviting all who would like to take part in this work.
