Krasnodar, 21 March. In February, issuance of credit cards increased by 7.8% in Russia. At the same time, the figure in February 2022 was by 16.2% higher.
In the Krasnodar region, banks issued 34,900 new credit cards in February 2023, or by 3.3% more than in January. It was the nation’s third top regional indicator after Moscow City (69,000 cards) and Moscow Oblast (51,100 cards).
“Following the ‘seasonal’ decrease in the number of credit cards issued in January, it naturally grew in February. However, their number is still significantly lower than in February, 2022. What is more, since August 2022 the number of newly issued credit cards has been decreasing. This behaviour can be explained by the fact that on the background of general uncertainty the borrowers tend to choose the saving financial pattern,” explained Aleksei Volkov, Marketing Director of the National Bureau of Credit Histories.
The number of credit cards issued in February 2023 grew practically in all Russian regions.
